What is Mangroves ?

Founded in 2024, Mangroves Foundation explores the transformative power of contemporary art to raise awareness about biodiversity loss and environmental change.
Based in Barcelona, our art space hosts a permanent exhibition and fosters collaborations between artists and scientists, creating a platform for dialogue, learning, and collective awareness.

Our Mission

At Mangroves Foundation, we believe that art has the power to change perspectives. Our mission is to connect contemporary art with environmental science to make biodiversity loss visible, tangible, and emotionally engaging, inspiring people to rethink their relationship with nature and become part of a more sustainable future.

How do we work with artists?

Mangroves Foundation collaborates with contemporary artists to create commissioned works exploring the relationship between art, nature, and today’s environmental challenges. Each artist maintains their unique visual language, creating works that inspire new perspectives on the natural world.

Where is the foundation located?

Mangroves Foundation is soon to open a 400 m2 exhibition space in the heart of Barcelona, at Carrer del Bruc, 18.
Alongside the physical gallery, the foundation also maintains a digital presence, sharing artworks, artist interviews and projects online, connecting artists and audiences worldwide.

How do artists benefit?

Commissioned works
Artists are invited to produce original works as part of the foundation’s exhibition.

 

Visibility
Works are exhibited in the Mangroves space in Barcelona and shared through the foundation’s communication channels.

 

Creative freedom
Artists retain their artistic identity and approach, interpreting environmental themes through their own practice.
