Educational Programs & Workshops
Education is at the heart of our public utility mission. We offer structured learning opportunities for schools, university students, and the general public in Barcelona.
We offer primary, secondary, and university groups an active, hands-on educational experience connecting contemporary art with planetary conservation.
Upon arrival at the Mangroves Art Foundation, students are greeted by our specialized educators who establish a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. This introductory briefing is crucial for pedagogical grounding. We outline the day’s learning objectives and introduce the core thesis of our program: the vital intersection of contemporary art and planetary conservation. By sparking initial curiosity and establishing collaborative group dynamics, we ensure students are cognitively primed before entering the exhibition space.
Moving into the gallery, students embark on a facilitated journey through our expansive collection of 100 contemporary pieces. This phase is designed as an interactive dialogue, utilizing inquiry-based learning to encourage critical analysis rather than passive observation. Educators guide students to decode complex visual narratives regarding global biodiversity, local ecosystems, and climate action. This analytical phase directly bridges artistic expression with environmental science, aligning tightly with school curricula.
The educational tour culminates in our interactive studio space, transitioning students from observation to active creation. In this practical workshop, participants synthesize the ecological themes discussed in the gallery by conceptualizing and producing their own artwork. We strictly utilize sustainable, upcycled, or locally sourced materials to model environmental responsibility. This tactile application solidifies their theoretical learning, empowering students to view themselves as both creative thinkers and environmental stewards.
