BIOGRAPHY

Alex de Marcos (Madrid, 1985) is a visual artist whose figurative work transforms the everyday into a subject for contemplation. His pictorial language is built around color as an emotional driving force, materiality, and a constant search for light. The use of oil paint, approached through a clear sense of improvisation, reinforces this pursuit of matter with presence, weight, and its own reality. Contemplating his paintings offers more than visual pleasure. There is something in them that goes beyond portraiture or the depiction of ordinary scenes. They are images that give value to the present moment and to contemporary life as something worthy of being observed slowly and allowed to endure, in contrast to a world where everything passes quickly and is consumed through an endless scroll.
