BIOGRAPHY

Alexis Mata (b. 1981, Mexico City) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work moves fluidly between analog and digital techniques. Drawing from his early interventions in public space, he uses collage, painting, drawing, installation, and digital editing to explore themes like beauty, violence, and memory. Mata is fascinated by “errors” -pixelation, glitches, and image distortions – and often works with artificial intelligence to generate visuals, which he then edits into oil paintings, poems, or haikus. His recent work blends his dreamlike reflections and subconscious ideas into fragmented, symbolic landscapes that feel both familiar and disorienting.
