BIOGRAPHY

Mie Olise Kjærgaard (b. 1974, Denmark) is a contemporary artist working in painting, sculpture, and installation. Her work centers on large-scale female figures navigating surreal, unstable architectures—boats, half-built structures, or collapsing spaces—suggesting transformation, agency, and defiance. With a background in architecture and fine art (MFA from Central Saint Martins), she explores themes of construction, decay, memory, and the body as a site of revolt and creativity. Her pieces often feel both poetic and politically charged, blending vulnerability with strength.
